What is Anima Terra Volunteers?
Anima Terra means “Soul of the Earth.”
We are a volunteer initiative based in the Mexican Caribbean, created to reconnect people with nature, community, and purpose.
In a world that often feels disconnected, we believe in creating spaces where people can slow down, contribute, and truly experience the places they visit.
Through hands-on projects, volunteers become part of something real — supporting environmental conservation, empowering local communities, and sharing meaningful cultural exchange.
Anima Terra Volunteers is not just about volunteering.
It’s about reconnecting — with the Earth, with others, and with yourself.
Jovana Jiménez
Founder & Director
My purpose has been deeply connected to international volunteering since 2006. At the age of 18, I began this journey by participating in workcamps in different countries—an experience that completely transformed my view of the world.
Since then, I have collaborated on projects across Europe and Mexico, taking part both as a volunteer and as a leader of international camps in countries such as Germany, France, Italy, and Estonia. I have been involved in initiatives like the German government’s Weltwärts program, as well as organizations focused on social and environmental development.
Over time, my path evolved toward the coordination of volunteer projects, where I worked in volunteer management, the development of community programs, and the strengthening of intercultural experiences in Mexico. This experience allowed me to understand the real impact that can be created when people, cultures, and purpose are brought together.
My academic background in psychology, combined with my experience in education and my ability to communicate in multiple languages, has enabled me to create spaces for learning, connection, and transformation for both volunteers and communities.
Today, this entire journey gives life to this organization: a project born from a deep desire to create positive impact, foster cultural exchange, and build experiences that transform lives.
